Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was raised in Barcelona and has been called an "atypical pop star" due to her variety of musical styles. [9] At the age of 13, she fell the love of Spanish folk music and enrolled in musicology at the Catalonia College of Music. She also performed at weddings as well as music bars. The album combines flamenco with hip-hop and pop the album produced "Malamente" (single) and "Pienso in tu Mira" (single). Both songs have been hugely successful and have received a hefty amount of critical acclaim. El Mal Querer was the first artist to bring Rosalia onto the international stage. Rosalia's 2019 albums "Con Altura" (13) and "Yo x Ti Tu x Mi" (12-13) were a pioneer in urbano music, achieving worldwide success. Her third album, Motomami (2022) she gave reggaeton a unique approach, deviating slightly from the flamenco sound of the first. The album featured singles "La Fama," and "Saoko" the album received a worldwide acclaim and was named the best-reviewed album of the year by Metacritic. Rosalia has had ten number one singles in her home country throughout her career. This is the most she's ever had an artist from the country. Rosalia has received eleven Latin Grammy Awards, two Grammy Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards 4 MTV Europe Music Awards with three UK Music Video Awards, and two Premio Ruido Awards. In the year 2019 Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award for "changing the sound of today's mainstream music by introducing a fresh, flamenco-inspired pop",[18and was the first Spanish-singing act in the history of music to be recognized as the the Best New Artist award at the Grammys Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She was born into an ethnically diverse family and is the youngest daughter of Pilar Tobella who runs a small family business that specializes in metalwork. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They divorced in the year 2019. Her older sister Pilar Vila who was born in 1989 is her stylist. Rosalia was fascinated by performing arts from at an early age. She discovered the discography of Camaron De la Isla. In the Taller de Musics, she began her musical education. [24] She did an entire six-year study in the academy. She was a student at the Raval School, then transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. [25] She also autonomously sang as an individual at weddings and bars that were musical and was paid "a barely over 80 euros or for dinner".
